Relto idea !
#1
Dear Writters Guild !
I was playing Uam shard or Deep island & TOC the other day & noticed Doctor Who's Tardis on the Relto island & in toc where it appered here & there & was wondering if a Tardis can be added why not the Stargate as in the tv series Stargate Sg1.

it would be a great idea dont you think to add the Stargate somewhere on relto or perhaps even better yet somewhere in the cavern like close to the great tree near the ally way & perhaps as an added feature have the gate link to somewhere special. besides there are many Stargate fans that would appreciate the idea. Smile

Thanks
Derek..

Hi Derek!

A few things I can offer about your idea:

- Building the Stargate itself would not be too difficult. Getting a good texture on it would be essential, as it has to look old and authentic. Creating the liquid effect in the middle would be more difficult, along with the lighting effects that occur on avatar entry/linkage.

- Once it is built, getting the stargate into URU would be entirely dependent upon operators of third-party shards. Cyan would not accept something so non-canon, and Gehn shard sticks to MYST content exclusively from what I understand... as does Minkata. So Deep Island or TOC may be the only options for something like this.

- The idea to "have the gate link to somewhere special" is the tough part. Everyone will expect the Stargate to link somewhere.
Everyone will be very disappointed and frustrated if the thing only sits there with no interactivity, right? So: where does it take you?

I tried doing something like this a while back, the issue I had was getting the water feature working on a vertical plane, the water feature works wonderfully on a horizontal plane, but turning on its side does not work. Kinda like the issue I had with Relativity and the camera angles, Cyan never intended to have an age where you could walk up the wall so the camera angles are stuck on the Z-plane, just like the water only works when its on the Z-plane for a similar reason. Unless I missed something in my experimentation you might need a custom python that will allow the water feature to work on a vertical plane.

Think
hopefully if someone does decide to write this python they don't make it too complex
