The Flash intro page was initially done just as a placeholder for the site that is now evolving. Since it was a standalone page, I thought that some animation would add a little bit of interest and fun. And I'd never worked with Flash before, and wanted a test project, so that's how it came to pass.
Some of us apparently detest Flash as a useless waste of time and bandwidth - and when it's overkill, that's been my opinion as well.
Generally, when an intro page is no longer fun, I bypass it by simply bookmarking the pages I really want to get to. In the case of the MystOnline.com site, I long ago bookmarked the forums and just go straight to them.
So is the roughly 5-second intro page on the writers-guild.org site a keeper?
Or should it be ditched?
(This also acts as a test for a polling function within MyBB - this poll is set up with no time limit, and should display the names and votes of all participants.)
