The same company that offered the tile plugin also has a Tree Creation plugin, also quite full-featured, also free of charge, also good for Max7 and above.
(same warning about polygon counts getting out of control, though!)
It can make good plants once you get the feel of it. But my trees don't look great if they are large. Maybe you can do better. I use this plugin to make shrubs though, and for background trees when I need a lot of them.
